Jest_and_HarborRodger Martin's Quest 30 design, built by Holby Marine, is a bold, adventurous design that attracts bold, adventurous people.  It uses a style from Open class singlehanded development designs, and takes advantage of that shape to create a huge interior for a boat that size.  The result is an innovative, water-ballasted racing boat with a simple but large cruising interior.  The rounded shapes on the deck allow the design to have more freeboard and cabin height than it appears to have, and the wide beam works for water ballast and interior volume.

The Quest 30's were originally designed with dual transom-hung rudders. Many have been converted to single, deep rudders installed under the transom.  The boats are built to racing weights, but have proven themselves several times in the Bermuda 1-2.  In fact, Barrett Holby has won the race more than once himself in one of his own boats.  The boats have all been somewhat customized at this point, and a newer version, the Quest 33, was introduced with an extended stern and single rudder.
